What is WinRa1n?
WinRa1n 2.1 for Windows is a jailbreak tool for iOS 12 – iOS 16 implementing checkra1n 0.12.4 and checkra1n 0.1337.1 as the main engine to enable tweak support on your iPhone or iPad. It works with all checkm8 devices A8 – A11 running iOS 12 – iOS 14, and iOS 15 – iOS 16. What's more, WinRa1n for Windows PC can also boot untrusted images on your iDevice.
With WinRa1n for Windows, jailbreaking A8 – A11 iDevices running iOS 12 – iOS 14 has never been easier using the checkra1n tool. However, the capabilities of WinRa1n go beyond that, as it also allows you to execute checkra1n 0.1337.2 and Palera1n v2.0.0 Beta 5, both compatible with iOS 15 and iOS 16. Notably, on the latest iOS firmware, WinRa1n installs the Palera1n loader, granting you the ability to perform tweak injections and install a package manager.
When using WinRa1n Windows on A11 devices, it's important to note that you will need to disable your passcode temporarily, and certain SEP functionalities like Face ID/Touch ID and Apple Pay will be unavailable until you return your device to a stock iOS state after jailbreaking. The jailbreak process directly affects these SEP functionalities.
For A11 devices running iOS 16, there is an additional requirement to consider. If you have previously set a passcode on your device, you must erase all content and settings before proceeding with the jailbreak. This step ensures a smooth jailbreaking process on A11 devices.
WinRa1n Windows is built upon the checkm8 exploit, which limits its support to A8 – A11 devices. Consequently, you can utilize this tool with various models, including iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6S, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, iPhone 8, and iPhone X. However, it's essential to note that any iPhone models released after iPhone X are not compatible with WinRa1n jailbreak.
To utilize WinRa1n on Windows, the first step is to enter DFU Mode on your iPhone, which serves as the initial stage before proceeding with the jailbreak. The good news is that this process closely resembles the familiar workflow of checkra1n for Windows or macOS.
Additionally, WinRa1n 2.0 Windows Jailbreak extends its compatibility by supporting USB 2.0 to Type-C (DFU mode) connections, offering flexibility for various device setups. Moreover, it can be seamlessly run on virtual machines for iOS versions ranging from iOS 12 to iOS 14, making it accessible to users who prefer using virtual environments on Linux computers.
However, it's essential to note that virtual machine support is limited to iOS 12 – iOS 14, and newer iOS releases do not offer this feature in WinRa1n on Windows. Therefore, users intending to jailbreak devices with iOS versions beyond iOS 14 should use a Windows PC.
WinRa1n 2.0 introduces several exciting improvements, including a complete overhaul of the codebase. This release maintains compatibility with both INTEL and AMD processors, covering the USB spectrum from 2.0 to 3.2. Also, checkra1n from version 0.1337.1 to 0.1337.2, and palera1n from beta 4 to beta 7 has been upgraded.
One noteworthy addition is the Rootful jailbreak mode, providing users with enhanced control over their devices. Furthermore, we've expanded the menu to include additional tools accessible through a simple click of the icon. These tools encompass convenient features such as one-click SSH tunnel opening and one-click erase, among others.

This version also addressed some pesky bugs from version 1.1. The new release fixed a driver loading issue and resolved the UsbDK functionality problem.
